Tipping
Macau hotel spas add a 10% service charge to every treatment — the "++" on the menu. That charge is the gratuity. Staff do not expect anything on top of it, and offering more is unnecessary.
Independent and day spas generally add no service charge. There, 10–15% in cash for good service is the custom, and cash reaches the therapist directly. If a shop does list a service charge, treat it the same as a hotel spa: nothing extra needed.
Booking norms
Hotel spas take advance reservations by phone and generally accept non-guests — Tria Spa at MGM, the Ritz-Carlton Spa and V Spa at The Venetian all confirm this. Voucher bookings (Klook, Trip.com) always require reserving with the spa after purchase; same-day availability is not guaranteed.
Independent shops mostly take walk-ins. Foot Recreation and Thai Xi Spa (formerly Thailand Palace) run 24 hours, so timing is rarely an issue there.
What to expect
Confirm the price before the treatment begins, particularly at independent shops where menus may not be in English. At hotel spas you will be shown to changing and relaxation areas; at independent shops the format is simpler — treatment rooms, sometimes curtained. Foot Recreation's locations are 18+ only.
English is workable at all hotel spas and at shops like Sy Spa. Elsewhere, pointing at the treatment name on your phone is universally understood.
